Greer Clayton graduated at Elam Art School, Auckland, New Zealand with a bachelor of fine arts in 1996. Greer then travelled extensively before settling in London for two years where she managed a Print Gallery whilst taking commissions and participating in group shows in Scotland.
In Sydney for the following five years she gained a painters licence and had her own business in decorative paint effects and hand painted finishes. Now in Auckland with two young children, Greer continues to take on commissions and specialist paint work.
Her subject matter ‘the landscape’ is abstracted using diffused line and glazing with mixed media and new iridescent and pearlised acrylic. Exploring colour, form and the varied texture of the landscape while evoking visual similarities of a typical New Zealand environment.
“Our landscape has its own original colour with texture formed from native plants, rivers, lakes and coastlines rising to our ever changing skyline. I aim to capture some of that visual energy in my paintings.”
